Barrel to metric-ton formula

Density-based products use the supplied barrel definition and an editable product density.

bbl/MT = 1,000 ÷ (density kg/L × 158.984 L/bbl)
USD/MT = USD/bbl × bbl/MT

Kerosene at 0.800 kg/L = 7.86243 bbl/MT. Gasoil at 0.845 kg/L = 7.44372 bbl/MT.

High Sulphur Gasoil

The archive derives High Sulphur Gasoil from OGRA Gasoil 0.05%:

HSGO USD/bbl = Gasoil 0.05% × 0.983

Its USD/MT value then uses the shared gasoil density.

Gasoline 95 RON

The archive converts every published Gasoline 95 USD/bbl value using the Platts factor:

Gasoline 95 USD/MT = USD/bbl × 8.5 bbl/MT

The generator applies this factor to the full-precision published USD/bbl value on every archive update.

Gasoline 92 RON

Gasoline 92 uses the same fixed Platts factor in the historical table:

Gasoline 92 USD/MT = USD/bbl × 8.5 bbl/MT

The same rule is used in the desktop table, mobile cards and latest daily card.

Gasoline density equivalent

A factor of 8.5 bbl/MT is mathematically equivalent to approximately 0.739993 kg/L with a 158.984-litre barrel. This is a calculation equivalent—not a claim that every gasoline cargo has that physical density. The conversion lab keeps separate Gasoline 95 and Gasoline 92 density controls so either grade can be tested independently.

Archive rule: historical gasoline USD/MT columns always retain the fixed 8.5 bbl/MT Platts factor. Conversions use the full-precision average before the displayed USD/bbl value is rounded, so a manual calculation from the visible two-decimal value can differ by a few cents. Custom density experiments stay inside the conversion lab and never rewrite published or archived figures.
